Mindfulness as a Way of Daily Life

This mindfulness course will offer a wide range of practical approaches, guiding students to cultivate a deep awareness, which Thich Nhat Hanh describes as “the energy of your true presence.”

A growing body of scientific research reveals that mindfulness is not only a powerful tool to build resilience when dealing with daily stressors, but it also has a significant impact on our cognitive, emotional, and social skills. One Harvard study (among many others) measured, after just 8 weeks of mindfulness training, a significant change in the regions of the brain in charge of learning, working memory, and executive decision making, as well as increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, empathy, and compassion. In addition, the amygdala (which deals with anxiety, fear, and stress control) gets measurably smaller. What those studies demonstrate is that through this practice, we are not only calming the mind, but also developing the brain. And, it’s never too early or too late to do that.

The course is designed for students interested in deepening their own mindfulness practice, parents who understand its profound benefits for their children’s development and well-being, yoga and school teachers, as well as any other professionals seeking to empower the people they work with to build resilience, strong awareness in the present moment, and what one of the pioneers in the field, Jon Kabat-Zinn, perceives as the true meaning of the practice – “a presence of heart.”

There will be pre-recorded content shared with the participants.

Mindfulness of Emotion: Finding Inner Balance in Times of Outer Uncertainty

Click HERE to register for this virtual workshop via the Breathe Together website.

During the challenging times we live in, we often reflect on what we are missing, but, one thing we all probably have in abundance now is intense, and often contradicting, emotions. The goal of this workshop is to offer very practical and efficient techniques to tame our inner tumult and transform it into balance, while combining ancient wisdom with the most recent scientific research. We’ll learn how to escape the vicious cycle of reactivity and ride the emotional waves with ease, using breathwork and different mindfulness modalities.

Bringing our attention inward allows us to notice, accept, and transform our emotions. Finding their physical manifestation makes them more tangible, thus more relatable. Ultimately, their intensity may decrease, their duration will shorten, and eventually we may create for ourselves a safe space where we become impartial observers, watching the uproar within dissipate.

The immediate effect of approaching our inner landscape mindfully and honestly is that we stop identifying with our emotion. How I feel in the moment is not who I am becomes a daily affirmation. We understand how to separate ourselves from our experiences and thrive regardless of the circumstances.

Let’s all be kids together during this workshop, and step on the yoga mat with the open, pure, and unburdened curiosity of a child. We will flow through a sequence of partner and group poses, which will give us a new perspective on how to connect, trust, and support one another. Tapping into the inner child, vibrant and full of life, we will learn to mindfully approach each moment with wonder and happy appreciation.

The idea of this workshop is to help you discover how fun and enriching the shared joy of yoga can be, and to inspire you to maintain, through a consistent and regular practice, that special bond with your loved ones at home. Yoga For A Spirited Child

“Look inside yourself; everything that you want, you already are.” – Rumi

The foundation for this workshop is the firm belief that yoga is mostly about self-discovery and self-acceptance. Our goal is to give parents, teachers, and educators the tools they need to make the practice for their students a joyful bundle of breath work and mindful movements, and to guide the young people to eventually seek the quietness within that the meditation instills in them.

The term “spirited” is defined as lively, vivacious, vibrant, and full of life. In this workshop, we will explore and delve deep into that inner spirit as a driving force on which the uniqueness of each person is built upon. Understanding how to listen to our inner guidance, we will learn to breathe life into the poses by carrying the spirit they represent.

That is how the yoga transforms us to be strong, yet humble as a Warrior, grounded as a Tree, mighty as an Eagle, happy as a Baby, and graciously beautiful as a Bird of Paradise.

Tapping into the enormous creative reservoir and imagination that kids have, we will learn powerful techniques to guide the children to be in control of their feelings, thoughts, and emotions: how to turn anger, sadness, or sense of being misunderstood and inadequate into self-acceptance, confidence, and loving kindness.
